Introducing: HARDEMAN Autumn/Winter 2016
投稿日: 20 7月 2016
Sophie Hardeman is a designer and the creator of denim brand HARDEMAN. By using conventional jeans, Hardeman aims to let 'the abnormal' be the new sexy standard. Having previously studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Acadamie and having worked as a studio assistant of Bernhard Wilhellm in LA, Hardeman now lives and works in Holland.
Sophie presented her conceptual take on denim as a finalist in the VFILES Made Fashion 2016 event.
The 2016 panel of judges included Off-White designer Virgil Abloh; Calvin Klein menswear maestro Italo Zucchelli; consultant Candy Pratts Price; and the newest mentor, Harold Koda, former curator in charge of The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “I’m sort of an unlikely candidate for getting involved with this,” Koda told Vogue.com. As a curator and fashion historian, his focus is usually on the past, while VFiles looks unwaveringly to the future. “[VFiles founder] Julie Anne Quay thought it would be a helpful perspective,” he continued. “Realistically, anything a new designer does has to be anchored in the present with an eye for what’s ahead, but giving a context for designers is also very helpful. So that’s what I’m providing.” (via VOGUE.COM)
The collection includes an upside-down denim skirt, half leg jeans and white denim pieces that she drew on using ball point pen.
“I like fashion because it speaks to everybody, It’s a very visual, understandable language in which you perform. Thats why I work with denim, because it refers to everybody.” (via nytimes)
